INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT UNDERGRADUATES SUPPORT OXFAM WITH SUPPLY CHAIN PROJECTS:

.

Oxfam use a wide variety of online platforms to determine costs and return on investment; however the data at the time of this project was deemed out of date and therefore needed renewing.  The undergraduates looked at 3 project areas - Postal calculator, online seller costs and the online website.

Each undergraduate was assigned to one of the project tasks, and within that project the workload was split down into key aspects which each member completed.  E.g. collection of data and collation of data sets. A challenge for them was that they were based all over the UK so it was key to get the communication right to ensure the projects were completed in time and effectively.  They used conference calls frequently to update each other with progression and discuss ideas.  Following their presentation to Oxfam, feedback received was very positive.  Oxfam expressed that they were very grateful for the hard work and effort put in and that they were extremely impressed and satisfied with the end result.  Undergraduates felt it had been a valuable piece of added learning within a different area of supply chain and project management.
